Thousands of Devices Wiped Remotely Following Mobile Guardian Hack

Mobile Guardian, a U.K.-based provider that specializes in MDM solutions for the education sector, detected unauthorized access to its platform on August 4^th. In response to this breach, the provider halted their services to contain the incident and to prevent further unauthorized access.

A ‘small percentage’ of iOS devices were unenrolled from the platform and wiped remotely according to Mobile Guardian, and there is no evidence to suggest that the perpetrator had access to users’ data. About 13,000 students in Singapore from 26 secondary schools had their devices wiped remotely by the perpetrator, the Singaporean education ministry said in a statement.

The security incident affected users globally, including in their North American, European, and Singapore instances. Internal and third-party investigations of the Mobile Guardian Platform are confirmed to have been resolved and no longer pose a risk.

Pharma Giant Cencora says Personal Health Data Leaked during February Cyber Incident

Cencora, formerly known as AmerisourceBergen is one of the largest drug wholesale companies in the United States. In February, 2024, Cencora released preliminary information about a data breach event that occurred within their environment, but did not provide further details to the public regarding specific data compromised and what the outcome of the data breach would be.

Further information has just come to light that provides further details outlining that Cencora did suffer a data breach that included personal information and protected health information (PHI). According to the notification provided by the company, the breach exposed data that could include names, Social Security numbers, and other sensitive health-related information of patients. The breach occurred due to unauthorized access to their systems, leading to potential risks of identity theft and privacy violations for the affected individuals. Cencora has been working with third-party cybersecurity firms and legal experts to assess the full scope of the breach and implement mitigation measures.
