This month’s spotlight shines on James Bonstrom, a senior cybersecurity engineer here at Celito, whose work and success strengthen the foundation beneath our cybersecurity programs. James brings deep technical expertise, a sharp systems mindset, and a level of initiative that makes him one of the most quietly influential people on our team.

Over the past year, James has been instrumental in rolling out key cybersecurity platforms and processes, including Microsoft Purview, Rapid7, and Data Loss Prevention methodologies. But what sets James apart isn’t just his technical acumen but also his ability to architect smarter ways of working. Whether it’s technical assessments, dynamic dashboards, or scaled documentation, James turns one-off solutions into repeatable, reliable systems.

Before joining Celito, James built his skills through more than a decade in IT infrastructure and system administration. He started in end-user support back in 2011, advanced through engineering roles at Taos, and ultimately worked on enterprise-level cloud and on-prem environments at IBM. That diverse experience gave him what he calls a “positive pivot” into cybersecurity. And since then, he’s made this field his own, earning both Security+ and CySA+ certifications along the way.

Outside of work, James applies the same sense of purpose and structure to different kinds of challenges. He races with a local amateur cycling team in Boise, ID, maintains a self-hosted home lab for fun, and gardens with intention, building a backyard ecosystem designed to welcome and support the local bee population. Whether he’s tuning a security framework or coaxing life from a raised bed, James stays quietly focused on making complex systems work better for everyone.
