Job Overview
The Accounting Manager will lead and oversee the organization’s US and India accounting operations, day-to-day general ledger and close process, financial reporting, compliance, and internal control framework. This role is responsible for owning the month-end and year-end close, preparing consolidated and business unit–level financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and other applicable standards, ensuring regulatory compliance across jurisdictions, and providing technical accounting and strategic financial leadership to support organizational growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background and relevant experience in the IT industry.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepare, review, and finalize consolidated financial statements and business unit–level financial reports in compliance with US GAAP and other applicable accounting standards.
- Own and manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process across the US and India entities, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and balance sheet account reconciliations, to deliver an accurate and timely close.
- Manage consolidation of the US and India entities, including intercompany transactions, eliminations, intercompany profit elimination, and foreign currency translation, ensuring the integrity of consolidated results.
- Own the general ledger and chart of accounts, maintaining data integrity, appropriate account mapping, and consistent accounting treatment across all entities and reporting periods.
- Research and document technical accounting positions under US GAAP, including revenue recognition and other standards relevant to the business, and maintain the company’s accounting policies and memos.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and expense management, ensuring accurate recording, timely collections and payments, and appropriate cut-off.
- Support cash management and treasury activities, including bank reconciliations, cash flow monitoring and forecasting, and maintenance of supporting schedules.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations across the US and India.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants during audits, statutory filings, tax assessments.
- Oversee statutory and regulatory reporting deliverables, supplying accurate financial data and schedules to support tax filings prepared in coordination with external tax advisors.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a robust internal control framework to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
- Strengthen compliance processes through risk assessment, control testing, continuous monitoring, and the implementation of AI-enabled automation solutions to enhance operational efficiency, reporting reliability, and scalable finance operations.
- Process US and India payroll including the recording of payroll, related accruals, and reconciliation of payroll liability accounts, and review payroll runs for accuracy in coordination with the payroll provider.
- Mentor, lead, and develop the accounting team while driving cross-functional collaboration to align financial processes with organizational goals.
- Assist finance leadership in preparing and delivering comprehensive MIS reports and financial analyses to support strategic decision-making and business planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CA or equivalent preferred).
- 2–3 years of experience at a Big 4 accounting firm preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time in a senior or supervisory accounting role.
- Hands-on experience owning the full-cycle month-end close, account reconciliations, and preparation of journal entries and supporting schedules.
- Experience with multi-entity consolidations, intercompany accounting, and foreign currency translation, ideally across US and India operations.
- Working knowledge of key technical accounting standards, including revenue recognition.
- Working knowledge of US and India tax regulations, statutory compliance requirements, and regulatory reporting sufficient to support filings prepared with external advisors.
- Working understanding of US and India payroll accounting and taxes, including Federal and State tax laws and compliance requirements.
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas) and the broader MS Office Suite with hands-on experience in accounting systems such as QuickBooks and NetSuite.
- Familiarity with tools such as AI Embedded tools finance applications, Google Docs, Share Drive, Dropbox, Tableau, Smartsheet, Salesforce, ADP Workforce Now, Expensify, and Time & Attendance systems is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Willingness to work night shifts is required to support the US-based team.
